Preparing
The High Tai

This infused take on the Mai Tai was dreamed up by Alex Howard, owner and creative force at Martha My Dear: one of East Nashville's finest cocktail bars. Alex's High Tai became so popular at his bar that it simply had to be shared. This seasonal twist incorporates the warming spices we all come to expect from a winter cocktail, while also bringing tropical warmth and flavor notes to the palate. After all, what better way to stay warm than by spending your holidays in the tropics?

  1. Heat 1 cup of water, 3 crushed cinnamon sticks, and 3 whole cloves in a pot until boiling.
  2. Remove from heat, add 1 cup of granulated sugar and stir until dissolved.
  3. Steep for 15 minutes, strain out solids and allow to cool.
  4. Once cooled, add all ingredients to a rocks glass and fill with ice.
  5. Swizzle, then top with a small splash of soda water.
  6. Garnish with mint & fresh grated nutmeg.
